79 St Vincent’s College, Potts Point is an independent Catholic Day and Board- ing School for girls from Year 7 to Year 12 and was founded in 1858 by the Sisters of Charity. It is located within easy access of the cultural centre of Sydney, with views of Sydney Harbour and its unique landmarks visible from the grounds. Our students are encouraged to strive for academic excellence and develop a love of learning. All girls have the opportunity to grow into confident, articulate and compassionate young women. Students enjoy living and learning away from home as they are welcomed into a community of friends who bring to St Vincent’s College a rich and diverse variety of life experience and cultural backgrounds. Our Boarding facilities are modern, bright and spacious, of- fering the comforts of a happy home life. Each Year Group is under the care of a dedicated Boarding Coordinator whose primary concern is the spiri- tual, pastoral, physical and academic well-being of each boarder. The caring relationship between boarders and their Coordinators is fostered through the variety of ac- tivities undertaken such as day trips, sports and games, social activities, formal study and times together talking through some of the joys and challenges of boarding life. The happy supportive environment in our Boarding House is based on trust and open communications between the boarder, her family and the Board- ing Coordinator. The College recently extended board- ing opportunities to include weekly boarding, which has proved to be very popular. Weekly boarding has benefits such as a structured study environment that helps give support to the learning requirements of young women living apart from their families during the week. There is no travelling time, bet- ter access to sport facilities, and being able to spend so much time with their friends at the College. Boarders have also commented that they have a new and increased appre- ciation of their parents and siblings.
